Sometimes being frugal is like a game. I never want to spend anymore than I have to on any given item to get the BEST deal. Gracie has been bit by the same bug, she is a very frugal girl herself, as long as it’s her own money. This doesn’t always apply to her though, but she’s working on it.
Do you remember when hoodies became popular again? I say again, because clothing styles always come and go in cycles. The kids at school were all wearing hoodies and Gracie REALLY wanted one. Well, I told her that she was going to have to buy it herself. I think it was right before Christmas or something, for whatever reason, I wasn’t going to shell out the money for a hoodie. She wanted it bad enough and she was willing to buy it herself. She had to check and see if I had any Kohls coupons or Kohls cash handy though because they had some character hoodies she really liked.
It just so happened that I did have some Kohls cash and I gladly let the future frugalista have it. If she was willing to spend her own money on a hoodie, she was welcome to the coupon. She ended up with a purple hoodie, I can’t remember the character name, but I do remember the color. She’s a purple and pink girl!
I’m always happy to see her spend her money on clothes or shoes instead of toys or candy. In fact, Gracie buys most of her clothes. She has a certain taste in clothing, nothing bad, just costly. I just won’t pay an enormous amount for clothing when you can get the same quality at a better price at a different store. Gracie doesn’t always feel that way.
Gracie likes to look GOOD, at least good in her eyes. She may be wearing cowboy boots with a pair of shorts and t-shirt but she is very self confident. I have never been that self confident, but Gracie has it and I am so very proud that she does. As long as she keeps working on her frugal ways, using her coupons and searching out the best deals – she can wear flip flops with her Sunday best. I’m proud of my baby girl just the way she is!

That hoodie will be even more special to her because she bought it herself.
Go Gracie!
